Cecil TV Music: Brody Bond Appears This Weekend at the North Elk Coffee House in North East
From North Elk Coffee House: On January 20, The North Elk Coffee House welcomes Brody Bond to our stage for the first time. You can expect a wide range of musical moods, as you sit back and enjoy Brody’s vocals when he performs his original songs. He plays acoustic and electric guitars masterfully. Brody has been making music since he was a kid. But in 2019, he found himself writing songs unexpectedly. While the songs came at a challenging time of self-growth, Brody found they were broadly resonant. This Baltimore-based singer-songwriter uses an analogy comparing the “rebirth” expressed in some of his songs to an ancient Japanese art “Kintsugi.” Broken teaware is mended by applying lacquer mixed with gold. The newly restored piece is considered even more beautiful than the original. His “rebirth” theme is expressed clearly in his newly-released album The Mo(μ)rning EPs. The darker themed Mourning and the uplifting Morning are about encountering the disordering and reordering of our lives. The songs embody folk-pop intimacy with jazzy and modern soul flourishes. Americana Highways magazine characterizes Brody Bond’s It Is Love as a bouncy, rootsy rock song. Love for our children can teach us a lot about love of all kinds. Glide magazine enthusiastically reviews Brody’s Before Love’s Arrival as a sound that blends pop with an old-soul folk sensibility. “His vocals are soulful and poignant.”
